Samsung's Super AMOLED display ad gives us a backstage peekMarch 13th, 2010 - 11:55 pm by Wajiha H.
For those of you who do not know much or have conveniently forgotten, Samsung decided to have a be-all-and-end-it-all display at this year's MWC. It really supersedes every other mobile display that we have come in contact with. Samsung S8500 Wave is said to be the first set that introduces us to it and Samsung have recently released a promo video highlighting its strongest points. The major difference between this and a regular touchscreen AMOLED display is that the Super AMOLED display doesn't require a separate touchscreen layer because it has it built-in.
Now this definitely will allow for faster response, less reflections and enhanced colors. The overlaying glass has also been removed which means perfect sunlight, which otherwise troubles regular AMOLED's. There is a WVGA resolution and the impressive contrast with pure blacks and so even now we can sense that this is going to be one big and awesome phone.
