Motorola to go for Microsoft again?!

Many will never forget the relationship between the two M’s; Motorola and Microsoft. And though Microsoft was a partner of Motorola in the latter’s golden years, when Motorola started going down, Microsoft seemed to change its ways too. Motorola CEO has now has some interesting things to tell about the recent events that have unfolded in the industry. When Motorola DROID was a big hit Android and Motorola were big hits together.

Samsung plans on investing more money this year on mobile phone software

Now we have to admit that Samsung has been releasing handsets almost consistently since the last year. They just seem to have the hand of it almost always. 2010 saw Samsung's resolves of releasing a new smartphone platform clear after it was said that the company invested 130 billion Won (approximately $112 million) in mobile software. They unveiled the Bada powered Samsung Wave during MWC, and after that Samsung CEO Choi Jee-sung has mentioned that they plan making Bada a clear contender in the smartphone operating system market this year.

iPhone rules the 2009 world handset sales

Gartner has recently come up with their annual report on mobile phone sales, 2009 edition. And what they have found is nothing but interesting, down to the very core. All in all, 2009 has seen the phones sales being relatively flat despite all the economic imbalances that were there at that time. Motorola and Sony Ericsson were the biggest winners this year this year, while Apple, Samsung, LG and RIM had a good year.

Nokia Explore and Share short- range transfer tech now on video

An internet video has recently been found out which shows the Nokia Research Center showing off their Explore and Share short-range radio technology for Nokia devices. The physical contact between devices required by this technology results in it being highly secure, thus the strong point of it, and then another big thing is that it is wireless. The Explore and Share tech was first presented by the Nokia Research Centre or NRC for short, at the Nokia World event last September.

Windows Marketplace update brings several requested features

There have been a few significant updates to the Windows Marketplace which has resulted in the introduction of some useful new features. There were many things that were constantly being requested by the users, the ability to install apps on the memory card being one. Before this you could not install more than a few apps because of a small internal storage. The problem has been solved now thanks to the new updates.

Blackberry and games seems an unlikely combination. It seems like it just cannot happen. But even in this situation there are many companies that have come up with many games for blackberry users. When we are talking about a Blackberry, the first thing to come to mind naturally could be the BrickBreaker. But if that’s not enough, many games have been played host by the BlackBerry Storm2, some requiring sharp reflexes as well!

Fennec Alpha 4 browser announced by Mozilla

Over the past few years mobile web browsers have seen a cut throat competition. Everyone is coming up with a presumably better browser due to which they’re always alert for any new changes that might affect their place in the market. Mozilla, makers of the Firefox browser for PC’s, have higher grounds to conquer though. They have lately announced their Fennec Alpha 4 browser especially for the Windows Mobile platform!

PUMA PHONE steals the show at the MWC

PUMA it seems have decided to come up with a phone as well. We have told you about it before and now that it has been unveiled we can also see that the PUMA phone thinks green with a solar panel on the back and an eco friendly box. The PUMA phone has been developed jointly by PUMA and Sagem and measures a good 102 x 56 x 13 mm and weighs 115 grams, which has been designed keeping the running aspect in view.

Windows Mobile 7 (or Windows Phone 7 Series) has recently been announced by Microsoft at the freshly finished MWC 2010. What Windows Phone 7 prides itself upon is the fact that it is the next generation of the mobile Windows. Windows Phone 7 gives you everything; connecting people, games, multimedia and office in a simple OS. We have the usual Facebook, Twitter, Myspace integration which promises to give you all the experience that you want in one.

ZTE to release Smooth; an entry-level Android handset

People have a perception of normal Android phones which definitely includes a landscape QWERTY keyboard. We do not see anything original in many Android phones that every other company is churning out these days. Everyone seems to be following the same success recipe. ZTE have also done the same by designing their newest offering, on the basis of Palm Pre. But it is the very irregular designing of the phone that might constitute a lot towards its popularity.

Windows Mobile 6.5.x to be now known as Windows Phone Classic

We do not have to be totally disappointed by the line of Windows Mobile 6.x.x devices. The phones do not really offer much but they still are not bad compared to the many mediocre devices coming up in the market these days. We have recently heard that the Windows Phone 6 Starter Edition will be made available to the emerging markets; also that Nokia is considering naming Windows Mobile 6.5.x as Windows Phone Classic.

Nokia X10 to be launched?

Nokia’s claim to fame at the MWC 2010 was just the show of their new Meego. Though there still are some rumours of first Symbian devices like the Nokia X10. We have just found out a video on the net which is supposedly of the purported phone. It promises a QWERTY keyboard, an AMOLED screen and many other amazing specs. Nokia N8, was the first ever Symbian device with 12MP camera with 720p video powers and now it seems that Nokia X10 will be the first “Symbian^3” powered phone.

LG’s performance at the MWC 2010

As far as LG were concerned, no new devices were announced, just some devices that the thought were good enough for the added attention. The Android powered LG GT540 was officially announced a while ago without any details about their hardware. They have not been able to release any relevant information even at the MWC. The only thing that they keep on emphasizing upon is the social integration that LG GT540 comes with.

Bada is Samsung’s newest baby and they are sure to do everything to make it work. The Samsung S8500 Wave is going to be carrying Bada and this phone is nothing short of being interesting. Touchscreens are everywhere now. Every company is now churning out a touch screen for themselves. The touchscreen that still stands out is the iPhone. Nothing has come even close to the success that it has achieved.

According to the CEO of LG, the Mini was designed to entertain the many customer requests that the company was having. This is just what they wanted; a phone that is not too big, too expensive or too complicated. It is a small phone, smaller than LG BL40 New Chocolate but in no way is this, an incomplete phone nor does it lack anything that should be there. It runs on an LG own S-Class OS and the browser is beautifully designed with rich and vibrant colors that look great on the pixel-dense screen.

Web browsing is becoming as significant as texting and calling these days. Windows Phone 7 device to be manufactured by Asus?

Microsoft has a lot of plans this year, one of those is no less than launching a mobile phone based on the Windows Mobile 7. We all are pretty familiar with Windows Phone 7 and hopefully by the end of the year we'll see smartphones based on it totally. Microsoft’s own phone will be launched in 2011, but as far as rumours are to be believed, it will be taken care of by Asus.

Sony Ericsson overview at MWC 2010

Sony Ericsson has been out and about with their latest batch of smartphones. They have presented us with the QWERTY version of the Vivaz and a double mini version of the XPERIA X10 - the Mini and the Mini Pro. While everyone was expecting the Mini version of the X10, the QWERTY Mini was certainly something that took many by surprise. Let’s go through each of these again to see what they are all about.

So the much talked about MWC 2010 finally ended this week; this was one event that has kept the whole mobile phones community completely engaged during the past week. The Windows Phone 6 Starter Edition supports just about every kind of mobile phone connectivity used today.

GSMA Awards 2010

At last the winners of the Global Mobile Awards 2010 have been announced by the GSMA. The device of the year award went to the HTC Hero, whereas the technology breakthrough award’s gone to Orange for the HD voice technology. These winners were announced at the MWC 2010 GSMA. The best mobile handset this year is HTC Hero, which beat the other four nominees in this category - Samsung Star, Nokia N97 mini, BlackBerry Bold 9700 and Samsung Omnia HD.

First Snapdragon-powered Nokia phone expected

It is strongly suspected even after both companies have been denying this thing again and again that Nokia and Qualcomm have a Snapdragon-powered Symbian smartphone in the pipeline which is expected to hit the markets by the end of the year. The patents have been a strong source of contention between both the Nokia and Qualcomm. According to some rumours this battle has been going on for years now.

You have to see Vodafone 150 and the Vodafone 250, to see what a cheap phone really looks like. But the thing does not end here; this is one cheap phone that makes voice calls. Yes sir! You wouldn’t want to miss it for the world if you come to know of its qualities. Some experts are of the opinion that as far as the features of this phone are concerned, this even tops some of Nokia’s entry level phones.

T-Mobile to take care of Samsung S8500 Wave and HTC Desire soon!

Samsung S8500 Wave, officially the first Bada phone to have been released and the HTC Desire, the non-Google Nexus One, both fresh out of the MWC are going to be hitting the markets soon enough. The Samsung S8500 Wave has been waited for with loads of anticipation at the MWC. Samsung has promised that the phone will be coming with a super AMOLED touchscreen (aptly named "Super AMOLED") and the new Bada OS, which is part of Samsung's "smartphone for everyone" plan.

Nokia and Intel combine Maemo and Moblin into MeeGo

MeeGo is the blend of Nokia's Maemo and Intel's Moblin, a powerful combination indeed. MeeGo is expected to run everything from smartphones through tablets and netbooks to connected TVs and car entertainment systems. But there will probably not be any unified app stores as they both run on different CPU’s. Ovi Store is used for almost all Nokia devices, whereas those running on an Intel platform will use the Intel AppUpSM Center.
