The LG GT540 is he sort of phone that does not get mass public attention, but people who want a change to their existing smartphone would find it to be an excellent phone nonetheless. It is smart and is low maintenance; heaven for people who are fed up with the bulky smartphones. The target of the LG GT540 is definitely not the top. It will be aiming the more sensible market instead. The phone boasts good connectivity, awesome design, with the right amount of style; we can see it creating a market for itself.
![]() Key features are Quad-band GSM and dual-band 3G (with HSDPA) support, 3" resistive touchscreen of HVGA resolution, Android OS v1.6, Accelerometer for auto screen rotate, 3 megapixel autofocus camera, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g and GPS receiver, digital compass, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, 150 MB internal memory, Hot-swappable microSD card slot (supporting card with capacity of up to 16GB), Standard microUSB port and Mass Storage mode, Social networking service integration, DivX/XviD video support, Stereo FM radio with RDS. The main disadvantages are Android OS is limited to version 1.6, Poor sunlight legibility, No video-call camera, No Flash support for the web browser, No voice dialing, Video recording maxes out at VGA@17fps. The LG GT540 has Optimus as its pet name and is supposed to come in a friendly package for the users. But we need to remember that this is an pure entry level basic smartphone so the expectations should not go overboard. LG has another Android-running handset, the GW620.
