People have a perception of normal Android phones which definitely includes a landscape QWERTY keyboard. We do not see anything original in many Android phones that every other company is churning out these days. Everyone seems to be following the same success recipe. ZTE have also done the same by designing their newest offering, on the basis of Palm Pre. But it is the very irregular designing of the phone that might constitute a lot towards its popularity.

It is also a normal sliding portrait QWERTY designed phone carrying everything you would need from an entry level Android 1.6 running handset. There is a little bit of everything like a 2.8” QVGA display, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS etc. It is going to be offered for almost $146, which is why we are calling it an entry level set.

The set will be available sometime in August. We are not implying that the ZTE Smooth is a complete copy of the Palm Pre, but yes there are some similarities and we can see a lot of handsets based on a similar design come up in the future.
