Toshiba launches two smartphones

The Toshiba TG01 was surely a winner at last year’s MWC; they have decided to repeat the successful experience again by launching a successor in yes, MWC 2010. They have not experimented quite a lot in this respect and so their TG02 will also be an ultra thin PocketPC. TG01 and the TG02 are too thin to be true, and if that’s not all, Toshiba has also launched the QWERTY enabled K01 which is like icing on the “thin” cake.

The newcomer TG02 measures 126 x 66 x 9.9 mm and the size of the TG01 is 129 x 70 x 9.9 mm so they are mostly the same but a few things are definitely different like the screen is now capacitive! Not that much of a change but still something worth mentioning. There were rumours before the release claiming that the TG02 could be splash resistant; we can’t still say anything about that with a lot of surety as nothing on that has officially been released.

Toshiba K01 packs a side-slide QWERTY keyboard and a 4.1" AMOLED capacitive touchscreen of WVGA resolution. Its design and size are also different from what was being anticipated, as according to the rumours the K01 was said to be 15mm thin, but it actually is even slimmer - only 12.9mm! That is quite an unbelievable surprise.

Nothing has been announced about either the prices or the availability of these handsets though.
