Samsung definitely did splendid in 2009 and that goes for all of its divisions. Financial reports for the year 2009 just came out and it seems that the excellent results shown by the company in Q4 is just the beginning; the number of Samsung mobile phones shipped have grown considerably each quarter despite the world financial crisis. The financial summary shows that the number of units shipped was almost 227 million; now this is almost 16% more than the 196 phones sold in 2008!
Samsung Q4 report
To top it off, 68.8 million were shipped in Q4 alone which shows a 31% increase as compared to the fourth quarter of 2008 and 14% more than the phones sold in 2009's Q3. That is what we call improvement. This has resulted in a net profit of almost 850 million US dollars. The complete net profit in comparison with 2008 is much better as it is 3.56 billion US dollars while in 2008 it was only 2.57 billion US dollars!

The estimate by Samsung about their market share is around 23%, a definite improvement when compared to the 18% in Q4 2008 and the 21% in Q3 2009. Many think this overnight betterment in the financial situation of the company is due to the smart strategy launched by the company, to launch a wide range of touchscreen equipped mobile phones as well as the many smartphones.

Along with this another good thing that has been done by the company is to augment the number of localized models it offers and joint-promotions with the carriers. Samsung’s star is really shining!
