Now Maemo was introduced by Nokia N90 but that also means that with Maemo being on an introductory level, there were not a lot of apps available which were supported by it. There is a good news related to that as there is a new software update now which brings beta support for Ovi Store, enabling Maemo to support the Ovi services fully. The software update (v1.2009.44-1) for the Nokia N900 started rolling out yesterday for every location and version of the N900.

You will be able to have this update if your phone is connected to the Internet; you can download it easily. You can also download various other stuff from the Ovi Store like a Facebook widget, Documents To Go Viewer Edition, Evernote Sharing Plugin, Fring and a few others. Whatever you do just select Nokia N900 as your device as by default, the selected device is Nokia N97.

With the growing user base and easier distribution of apps through Ovi Store, a lot of developers are interested in coming up with developments especially for Maemo.
