I think we have all gone through those days when the phone starts ringing like mad and even if by any chance we have put it on silent, it’s so loud that everybody can hear it! I for one have often thought about why nobody ever came up with an idea to silence the phone without having to look for it. It seems that all our prayers have finally been answered as some researchers from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh have finally come up with an answer.
 What they have under discussion is an idea to create a system for phones so that you can just make them stop ringing by whacking or hitting them whilst they’re in your pocket. This is something we all were waiting for; probably it will mean the end of our trying to look for our phones like mad when they start ringing. But one thing that I should mention is that any set which is going to be making use of this technology should have an accelerometer incorporated in it. The accelerometer would definitely be necessary to register the specific “whack gestures”. I am sure that this technology is going to be used in many mobile phones as soon as it is completely developed as this is one thing many mobile users are sick and tired of and want to change.
