Motorola to become the main Android provider in 2010?January 31st, 2010 - 11:51 pm by Wajiha H.
The very first Android sets were all manufactured by HTC, we all kind of know that. Android phones were its child, so much so that they the Taiwanese based firm was controlling as much as 64.5% of the Android pie by the end of 2009. RAZR was the one model that is synonymous with Motorola and it is now a tale of yesteryear as well all know. The company was definitely in need of a new model, a new story.
![]() For that purpose they have now announced that they would be shifting to Android for future handsets. To start it off, Motorola Cliq was launched for T-Mobile, then DROID grabbed 25% of the Android market all by itself, and it seems that Motorola has finally found the savior that it was looking for. We are now hearing a lot about new Android based Motorola handsets which we will probably be seeing in 2010. According to DigiTimes, Motorola expects to ship 30 new Android models in 2010, shipping 12.5-15.6 million units, which is not a little feat! HTC’s Android based devices are still in demand but the real problem that they face is of their Windows Mobile devices which do not seem to be very well-received by the consumers. DigiTimes expects that sooner than later Motorola will take the lead as the top Android provider in 2010 with 34.7% of the market while HTC's share is expected to drop by more than half to 31.9%. If this really happens then this will be one big turnaround story of this decade. Source Related ArticlesRelated articles to Motorola to become the main Android provider in 2010?.
