Motorola MOTOSPLIT: Cool weirdness?

We recently reviewed Motorola BLACKFLIP, which is as weird as anything possible. This new phone Motorola MOTOSPLIT is funny too which proves that Motorola is now undergoing a major “shape change” process. Meet Motorola MOTOSPLIT which runs on Android OS and bears a strong resemblance to Nokia 6800 and the likes. It comes with a split QWERTY, a thing only seen in the initial days of the QWERTY phenomena. Remember Nokia 5510? It came with a split QWERTY bar but due to its unique shape, never quite became a mainstream mobile phone.
If you check out the projected images of this new phone on the internet you will see that the two halves of the QWERTY keyboard don't flip but slide open. Even the handset’s name, The MOTOSPLIT, seems to confirm this fact. Although it’s quite evident from the pictures but still it should be mentioned that this new phone from Motorola runs Android.

The CPU is a 1GHz Snapdragon, a thing synonymous with Android handsets these days but for Motorola it is definitely a first. Motorola, it seems, is adamant to making it big in the Android world and if rumours are anything to go by, rumours are even hinting towards the possibility of them making the Nexus two.

AT&T will be offering the Motorola MOTOSPLIT somewhere in the third quarter of 2010.
