Firefox for Android, a.k.a. Fennec coming soon?January 31st, 2010 - 11:49 pm by Wajiha H.
We have been hearing since sometime now that an Android-compatible Firefox version is soon to hit the markets. Many people are now saying that it’s almost here. The first beta version of the Fennec (Firefox) is expected to show up sometime around February! Mozilla's Firefox for Android OS powered devices (or Fennec, as they call the mobile version of the web browser), was in rumours since December 2009, most of the work is done now and you will most probably be able to see it in the market anytime soon.
![]() This is as official as it gets as this was decided during a meeting of the Mozilla team a while back. Firefox is amongst the most popular PC web browsers and many people prefer it to the other easily available browsers on the web. The company has been making Firefox versions for Maemo-based devices for a while now (such as Nokia N900 and Nokia N800) and even for WinMo devices, though only an alpha version. With Android handsets now being manufactured by each and every one of the mobile companies, it was only natural that Mozilla decided to make one compatible to those too.
