Guess what? Synaptics have decided to create the Synaptics Fuse concept full -touch phone with the help of a few other companies. The basic aim of it will be to try and take phone interfaces to the next level by combining a touchscreen with other technologies; so that one hand usability is improved and the need to look at the screen again and again is reduced to a great extent. The different thing about Synaptics is that they have supposedly covered the whole phone with a range of sensors.

Force and capacitive sensors are strong enough to sense users grip and control panning and scrolling; of course along with the fact that the phone has been gripped tightly. Now if that’s not enough, the back of the phone is touch sensitive as well and has been designed in such a way that it can easily be used for 2D navigation. Proximity sensor is also one of the mentionable sensors!

So how do they do that? Well firstly, it’s not all about input, 3D graphics and "next generation" haptics is being used by the fuse to interact with the user's senses. Of course the company has still not clarified as to what “next generation” exactly means. But from what we can see in the videos over the net, it might be using a WVGA AMOLED screen and is powered by a Cortex A8 based processor with PowerVR SGX graphics chip.

The phone also has social networking facility that is Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Blogger and Skype integration. We can’t judge everything from the video only, it is the phone itself that we need to get a hold of if we really want to know what it is all about and whether or not operating it with one hand is possible. The phone is scheduled to be demonstrated at CES in Las Vegas and the MWC in Barcelona next year.
