Sony Ericsson U5i passes FCC tests!December 30th, 2009 - 10:57 pm by Wajiha H.
We all know that the Sony Ericsson U5i passed FCC testing a just recently but that model number was touted as the Sony Ericsson Kurara model number, whereas this U5i doesn’t seem to be the device that everybody was thinking it to be. The Sony Ericsson Kurara just leaked sometime back and has been under a lot of discussion ever since. It is basically a Symbian powered phone with a 3.2" nHD touchscreen and 720p video recording; rumours are that it is equipped with 3G with HSPA and Wi-Fi.
![]() This brings to our current confusion, the phone that has only recently passed the FCC testing was tested for just two GSM and EDGE bands (850/1900) and they also tested 802.11b/b Wi-Fi, where in the test report that is no 3G to be seen whatsoever!! Some people are of the view that this much awaited phone is nothing but a 2G only. Whereas many are of the opinion that it has Symbian OS with an HD screen resolution no along with a 2MP camera as well. We can only just assume that the initial rumors about the Kurara having the U5i model number were wrong. Now the Sony Ericsson U5i has seemingly been made for the same markets for which the Nokia 5230 and the Nokia 5530 XpressMusic were made. Currently there have been some news about the U5i having only a 2 megapixel camera being not correct. For all we know, U5i may still be Kurara (or vice versa) but of course that doesn't explain why the FCC didn't test any 3G frequencies on their test unit. The announcement of this mysterious Sony Ericsson U5i (be it Kurara or not) is expected in Q1 2010 as the Sony Ericsson confidentiality request to FCC expires in the end of March. We will definitely keep you posted as soon as more as news comes in. Source Related ArticlesRelated articles to Sony Ericsson U5i passes FCC tests!.
