All three of the Nokia’s famous platforms will be getting S40 platform alongwith getting touch screens, dual-SIM and QWERTY keyboards, while Symbian and Maemo will get new interfaces with improved speed and multi-touch. Nokia thinks that 2010 will see a rise in Maemo’s position as an ultimate phone OS, due to which many devices will be sold by 2011, compared to the current status of the platform. With Maemo 6 will come multi-touch support as well.
Symbian

To date there has been many attempts to create an S40 handset with a QWERTY keyboard but that wasn’t materialized. Touchscreens and dual-SIM phones is breaking new ground for Series 40. Many of these improved devices will surface in 2010 along with the new Symbian and Maemo devices. Nokia maintains that Symbian is their smartphone platform of choice, keeping Maemo to high-end "mobile computers". Many people are of the view that S40 is here to stay as Nokia wants multiple platforms to cover all the market segments for mobile phones, instead of stretching one platform from the low end to the high end.

Now of course we are excited about the fact that a new interface for Symbian is coming up but most people are also of the view that 2010 will "bring touch interaction on top of Series 40's recently renewed user interface". That actually sounds a lot like what the touch-enabled Symbian was at first a non-touch UI with touch capabilities added.

We all know that our lovely 60 was specifically designed to be operated with a keypad, due to which they just had to add touch capabilities in order to get a subpar touchscreen experience, which of course was criticized a lot too.
