Nokia N900 UI is about to get a portrait mode-enabling update very soon, if the rumours are anything to go by. Now the thing that basically worries us is that this functionality was already there in the set but was not unlocked; so it doesn’t really make sense that it should be inculcated in the set from scratch. Upgrade should not be a problem of course. There is a very interesting story behind it of course as it was through an accident that this feature was discovered.
 What clearly happened was that due to a software malfunction, a user managed to make his Nokia N900 work in landscape mode, accidently. Now what happened was that the handset turned to portrait mode for its phone app but somehow did not change orientation back and posed for some nice portraits instead. The update is needed because some of the menus aren't perfectly fit for that mode yet, a thing that is expected to be improved with the arrival of the update. We still have no idea when this update should be available on the website but people are expecting it to be released in time for Christmas.
