Tethering on Motorola Droid is not own at the moment but the company does promise that this is going to be provided anytime in the beginning of next year. Now in essence this carrier will be allowing this Android Smartphone to function as a wireless modem for other devices. They are going to be taking an extra monthly charge of $15, and this is limited to 5 GB of data transfers each month. Consumers can do it on their own as well instead of waiting for the official Verizon support.

This can be done through applications like PdaNet which will add a lot of functions to the mobile and this thing will not be heavy on your pocket. The application that I just put on can be run on a Smartphone and a Windows PC which lets the two share a wireless Internet connection. This whole software just around $29 and the good thing is there is no monthly charge. According to Jun Fabrics work is still going on the new Android 2.0 support, and a new version will be available soon.

What Is Tethering?

For this particular to be clear about it is very important to know what this actually means. Now Tethering is a process whereby wireless Internet access to another computer is provided through a mobile phone. This facility is usually available for laptops as it has an inbuilt wireless connection card. There are many carriers and as much as there are carriers as much are the names. Verizon calls this a "Broadband Access Connect" service but the official name for this service is called tethering.

There are many phones these days which are coming by default with these applications and firmwares but many are still deprived. Different wireless carriers have various opinions about this matter.
