REVIEW: Sony Ericsson AinoNovember 7th, 2009 - 03:25 pm by Wajiha H.
Aino is a very capable phone but will constantly be compared with the Satio and X10 and that is not that good a feeling as these two are doing very well. When you take a first look at it, it seems like a regular touchscreen but a closer look at it and you will understand that it is actually sliding with an extraordinary big screen. Since it is also equipped with a Remote Play, you can easily pair it up with Sony's PlayStation 3.
![]() Aino has it all, everything that it needs to be regarded as a successful phone like excellent connectivity, full-featured navigation, a great camera, plenty of internal storage and a simple touch media menu. Main features are a 3" 16M-color capacitive touchscreen, with a resolution of around 240 x 432 pixels, Quad-band GSM support, Tri-band 3G, an 8 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash; geotagging, touch-focus, face detection, image stabilization; VGA video recording, Some degree of touchscreen functionality - touch-enabled media and camera interface, Touch works in Java apps as well, e.g. Opera Mini, Built-in GPS receiver with A-GPS; Trial version of Wisepilot navigation software, Wi-Fi, FM radio with RDS, Stereo Bluetooth 2.1, microSD card slot, Wireless Bluetooth headset with 3.5 mm audio jack and nice headphones, Remote play for Playstation 3. Of course it comes with its disadvantages like there is no standard USB port, which is really a big problem in this day and age, no 3.5mm audio jack (though there's one on the Bluetooth headset), Touch control is limited to camera, gallery, multimedia players and some Java apps, Media library updates very slowly in the touch media menu, No DivX/XviD support, No xenon flash and last but not the least no camera lens cover. Now many people might get excited about the Remote Play feature which is really nothing more than DLNA and does not do anything except for being useful for PlayStation3. Also the much touted touch thing is nothing to write home about and then there is no in-built browser as well. Now if you are one of those people, who own a PlayStation and are crazy about getting another one, well Sony Ericsson Aino is God sent for you!
