Samsung has done some real business this year and the good luck continues into the third quarter as well. According to the report published by the company, Samsung has achieved around 35.86 trillion Korean won (about 31 billion US dollars) revenue, which is a real huge thing. The same goes for the consolidated operating profit which is 4.23 trillion Korean won (3.6 billion dollars), which indicates that that the company has been doing extra well for the past three months or so.

Now if we compare these numbers to those of the same period last year, we’ll come to know that these numbers are respectively 18.5 and 185.8 percent higher. The mobile division is doing better than the others as usual and has registered some 10.71 trillion (9.1 billion US dollars) won in revenue which is a 20.6 percent increase from last year! If that’s not enough, the operating profit of 1.03 trillion won (874 million US dollars) for the third quarter is one of the best in the industry for this quarter.

“Samsung achieved an outstanding operating profit in the third quarter, with our components and product set businesses performing strongly in tandem,” said Robert Yi, Vice President and Head of Samsung Electronics’ Investor Relations Team.

“Looking ahead, we forecast a solid fourth quarter supported by seasonal demand for consumer electronics, though the appreciation of the won and increased marketing expenses may lead to a quarter-on-quarter decline in profit. Samsung has made great progress in strengthening its market leadership throughout 2009, and we believe the outlook is positive for further growth as the global economic recovery continues into 2010,” he said.

Also the handsets that Samsung has managed to sell in the third quarter have increased to a great extent, rising to a 15 percent quarter-on-quarter to 60.2 million units. The increase gives the company an exclusive global market share of 20.8 percent, exceeding the 20 percent mark for the first time in its history. Also the company is all set to achieve its target of 200 million mobile handsets sold this year.
