The eagerly awaited Nokia N900 was first made available in Europe last week and now the company has announced that the handset will hit the markets in the USA as well and that too now! Now this set, the apple of every tech- savvy individual’s eye, is going to be sold mostly SIM-free without getting any of the major carriers to strike a deal with NOKIA for its authorized sale.
![]() As we just covered in a preview article of N900, the set is equipped with GSM, is a full touch device with a side-sliding hardware QWERTY keyboard, has a 3.5" 16M-color TFT resistive touchscreen, ARM Cortex A8 600 MHz, PowerVR SGX graphics, has the new Maemo 5 as an OS, 32 GB storage, 256 MB RAM, microSD card slot, 5 megapixel auto-focus camera with dual-LED flash; Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB with microUSB port, GPS receiver with A-GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, FM radio, FM transmitter, Infrared port, built-in accelerometer and ambient light sensors, proximity sensor, IR output port for remote control, Ovi Maps (voice-guided navigation purchased separately), Mozilla-based browser with Adobe Flash 9.4 support and the most important thing these days, Facebook and Twitter integration. Right now the handset is being shipped only to those users in America who had placed the order beforehand. But the sets will be available pretty soon in New York and Chicago Nokia Flagship stores; nokiausa.com and various independent retailers and e-tailers including Amazon.com for something around 649 US dollars.
