Nokia gives free chargers in place of all defective ones!November 12th, 2009 - 01:58 pm by Wajiha H.
It usually so happens that when we a certain charger of ours doesn’t work we settle for a charger that is not up the Company’s criteria. This usually happens because we get the charger from an unauthorized dealer, not from the company’s authorized manufacturers. To compensate for this Nokia has started a program where these old defective chargers will be exchanged for new ones. These can either be sold separately or in a box.
![]() The chargers which are having issues have been manufactured by BYD with model numbers as follows; • AC-3U and AC-3E, manufactured between June 15, 2009 and August 9, 2009 • AC-4U, manufactured between April 13, 2009 and October 25, 2009 There is one specific problem that they all are mainly facing, the plastic cover loosens up and falls off easily, causing much inconvenience to the user. Of course there are other hazards that it can result in especially if it’s plugged in. There have been no such reported incident but of course it is very useful if you decide to request for a change of the charger altogether. You should get your charger changed in any case if the one that you own matches with the model number and the date of manufacture given above. There are good websites which offer forms after filling which you will be able to decide whether or not your charger needs change. On some sites there are diagrams as well which can help you locate the manufacturer and model number info. Now basically it’s still not clear whether or not it’s only for the USA or for all the countries. Of course Nokia wants its users to stop using the defective chargers as soon as possible and get new ones; and then, they are free!
