Nokia dropping Symbian for N-series?November 19th, 2009 - 11:49 pm by Wajiha H.
Some rumours are that the Maemo officials are now saying that the next phone of the much popular N-series will be based on the Maemo OS instead of the Symbian OS. This change is not going to be implied on the sets that are still in process, of course once they are finished, the OS of choice will be the Maemo OS. This was stated at a Maemo event held in London a few days ago at which the marketing team behind the mobile OS said that Nokia plans to discontinue the use of Symbian in their N-series lineup.
![]() Some rumors have it that the Nokia’s officials want this change to come by the year 2012. This is mainly for the N-series only and it has not been made clear as to whether or not this change will be extended to the E or X series. Another thing is that Nokia is still maintaining its original promise to continue supporting both Symbian and Maemo, and to expand their official app stores - Maemo Select and Ovi Store with additional useful applications. It is the plan of the company to have as much apps as possible by 2012 so that people are lured by the OS. Source Related ArticlesRelated articles to Nokia dropping Symbian for N-series?.
