Samsung I5700 Galaxy Spica finallly gets officialOctober 23rd, 2009 - 11:00 pm by Wajiha H.
Samsung I5700 Galaxy Spica, or Galaxy Lite, is official, finally! And as the name suggests, it’s actually cheaper than the original Samsung Galaxy. Many people were awaiting the launch of this mobile for a long time now and though it has been reviewed before based on the leaked photos and everything, it is the first time that the company has announced that the phone is actually going to be launched.
![]() It does seem to be very much like the original Samsung Galaxy in many respects as a lot of specifications are almost the same, but definitely a lighter version, as the name very much suggests. The CPU is run on the 528MHz Qualcomm MSM7200A processor and it must be added here that the Galaxy Lite or Spica, whatever you may like to call it, very easily takes away the crown of being blessed with the speediest CPU ever. Only some time ago this honour was held by the Acer Liquid, which was run on a 768MHz Snapdragon. RAM is still something Liquid excels in as it contains 256MB as compared to the 128 of both Galaxy phones. As I mentioned above, many of the other features very closely resemble the original Galaxy phone except for the RAM functions and the awesome camera. The camera of this phone is a remarkable masterpiece of around 3.2MP and the device also supports for microSD cards up to 32GB instead. Display is the same as the original galaxy as well that is 3.2", though we are not pretty sure as to whether it’s AMOLED and capacitive or not. It must also be stated here, that Galaxy Lite I5700 is a "Google experience" phone, so you will be able to be easily connected to many a Google services. Rumours have it that the Samsung I5700 Galaxy Spica will hit the market in Russia somewhere around November for a price of around 1,4000 rubles (320 euro or 480 dollars). Not much has been revealed about how and when it’s going to be released at other locations but this will be clear very soon!
