HTC Hero getting an Android 2.0 Eclair update but keeps Sense UI too!October 31st, 2009 - 01:17 am by Wajiha H.
HTC has always been very responsible about their Android devices, which they update on a regular basis, without getting late. Now a few days ago we heard about the HTC Magic getting updated to a Sense UI and now we hear that HTC Hero is going to be updated to Andorid 2.0, and that too soon. We don’t know when and in what time this is going to happen but rumours are that it’s going to be done pretty soon.
![]() It has also been heard that the update will pretty much be global, unlike the Sense UI update for the Magic, which was done only for Taiwan. HTC have started working on these updates and Éclair and Hero owners will be pleased to hear that they'll getting it too. These days HTC are working on porting the Sense UI to the new version of Android, which is promising a lot of new and improved changes. Now hero is not a “Google” phone due to which no licensing restrictions will be a problem and the update will be done for all the versions of Hero. The thing that is stopping this from happening in the case of Magic is exactly this that it is a “Google” phone so a lot of paper work gets involved. This is a problem with most of the HTC Magic owners who want the Sense UI Updates but are not sure whether or not they’ll get them due to the restrictions. The Magic hardware is really not a problem,it is strong enough to handle this Android upgrade but since nothing has been mentioned by HTC for this plan, a lot has still been left in the dark.
