Motorola has recently announced its new Android 2.0 CDMA phone - the Motorola DROID. Soon after on popular demand it has also come out with a GSM version of Droid. The people who have the former have nothing to worry about as the only difference is the version. The DROID has already been seen in action when yesterday Google came out with their Google Maps Navigation SatNav solution. The CDMA-based Motorola DROID was used to do this demonstration.

So Motorola DROID is the Ferrari of Motorola as opposed to the original Android phone being the Ford Model T, the only difference is style. Android v2.0 Eclair has been equipped with a lot of updates as far as usability is concerned and the speed will increase too with the ARM Cortex A8 CPU clocked at 550MHz. as the Cortex A8 architecture delivers more performance per clock.

The specs for GSM version of the DROID are not much different from the CDMA version, although they have been unannounced as yet. Now of course this means a 3.7" TFT display with 480 x 854 pixels resolution, capacitive touchscreen technology (with multitouch support as you can see in the video), a 5MP camera with autofocus and dual-LED flash (and the much improved camera interface of the new OS), D1@24fps video recording.

You will get an excellent wireless connectivity, speedy HSDPA (10.2Mbps) and HSUPA (5.76Mbps), Bluetooth 2.0 (with file transfer), Wi-Fi and A-GPS (with Google Maps Navigation). The Motorola DROID also comes with a roomy 16GB internal memory (either on a card or embedded).
