It has long been anticipated that there is some sort of link between the use of cell phone and the likelihood of cancer. The U.S. Senate Health Committee plans to investigate further into this matter and find out whether or not there is any truth to it. A while back there was a similar sort of objection against tobacco companies due to a suspected cigarette-lung cancer connection which was denied for many decades before becoming an established fact.

According to the committee head, Iowa senator Tom Harkin, it’s a pity that no one has been able to find any link between cell phones and cancer as yet. "I'm reminded of this nation's experience with cigarettes. Decades passed between the first warnings about smoking tobacco and the final definitive conclusion that cigarettes cause lung cancer." He said lately.

There has not been very specific and decisive research about it but according to some researchers there is a fatal link between the low levels of radiation from cell phone and your brain and central nervous system as these rays can cause a malignant brain tumor. A study was done by Danish researchers about the cell phone usage of brain tumor patients but didn’t find any definitive conclusions about the matter. It was also said by them that unless and until more authentic researches are done, no one can say for sure what excessive cell phone usage can do. Similar results were shown by the studies in France and Norway lately.

But now new points have been raised by U.S. and British researchers who are of the view that these studies were funded by the telecom sector due to which did not properly highlight the real results. These researches also excluded bed- ridden people with brain tumour and young children with the same disease.
While no solid link between cell phones and cancer has been established, we should adopt a precautionary approach if only because of the likelihood.

According to a recent study an estimated 275 million people in the U.S. and 4 billion worldwide use cell phones.
