Sony Ericsson has recently announced the launch of Xperia X2, the company's 2nd Windows Mobile powered smartphone, and its first to make use of the new Windows Mobile 6.5 platform that will be available starting in October of this year. As was the case with the X1, Sony Ericsson is pushing its panels touchscreen user interface on the X2, which ships with 14 pre-installed home screen panels while 16 others are available for download.
![]() The main highlights of the Xperia X2 include but certainly not limited to its slide-out QWERTY keyboard, and, of course, the touchscreen display, which measures almost 3.2 inches across the diagonal and offers 800 x 480 pixel resolution which is very good. It also comes with a new 8.1 megapixel camera with autofocus. We must also mention that the previous X1 was only equipped with a 3.2 megapixel unit and this can be termed as a major upgrade from that model. The camera also supports geo-tagging and touch focus which makes its use fun and also more practical. It has further been noticed by Sony Ericsson that business users will like the phone's TV-out function, so that docs and presentations can be viewed on a large display, thus this facility has been provided on this phone. The Xperia X2 comes equipped with the Windows Media Player for music, and even features built-in stereo speakers, now what more can you ask for! You can also find Sony Ericsson's PlayNow Arena is its own media player application on the phone. You can use wireless stereo headphones and headsets due to the Bluetooth facility. There has been an addition of a new and improved internet explorer web browser by Windows Mobile 6.5. The main attribute of this version is that it is a web-browser especially for true desktop-like browsing. The other regular features like push email and contact/calendar synching are also provided on the handset, thanks to Exchange Activesync support. Sony Ericsson's WiFi-capable Xperia X1 also has quad-band GSM/EDGE and tri-band UMTS/HSPA support, for world roaming. Sony Eriksson plans to be out with it in the fourth quarter of 2009 in black and silver color schemes. Related ArticlesRelated articles to Xperia X2 WinMo 6.5 smartphone launched by Sony Ericsson.
