Sprint, the top U.S. mobile service provider, has recently announced that a plan of selling Samsung phones with sophisticated AM-OLED screens is currently underway. The specialty of these handsets is the longer battery life and much improved video and photo images that they offer. Sprint has also announced that the company plans to introduce Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode, or AM-OLED, in its high-end phones so that the users can enjoy the benefit of better viewing.
![]() Now this technology ( AM-OLED) is most definitely a new concept as most handsets still have screens based on Liquid Crystal Display technology. Samsung however asserts that the advantages of AM-OLED technology should be availed. Some of the various benefits of using an AM-OLED sets are; the vivid presentation of colors and saving of battery life as these screens do not need a backlight. According to one representative of the Company, “The vibrancy of the screen is world class, consumers are willing to pay more as long as they're getting value” Right now the only AM-OLED device in the U.S. market is the Samsung Impression, sold by AT&T.
