This is not the first time that it has tried its luck at Linux, in 2005, Nokia came out with Nokia 770 which failed miserably because it did not calling services. The basic aim is to compete with the Apple’s iphone as proclaimed by Nokia’s head of sales, "I'm sure this will help us in the market situation with iPhone. This thing has been moving at a very well-planned pace long before there was any sign of an iPhone."
![]() The basic power of Nokia is that it controls more than half of the Smartphone market already which is more than Apple's iPhone and the move towards the new Linux based N900 will give the user a more "PC-like experience". "This is in no way putting Symbian in jeopardy," said Vanjoki. "Open source Symbian is going to be our main platform, and we are expending and growing it the best we can, both in terms of functionality as well as distribution populating more and more of our product line with Symbian." N900 uses ARM's Cortex-A8 processor and features a high-resolution WVGA touch screen. You will be able to have access to online videos and interactive applications with full Adobe Flash 9.4 support. It is equipped with an attractive slide-out QWERTY keyboard and comes with the storage capacity of almost 32GB of storage, which is expandable up to 48GB with a microSD card. You are bestowed with a 5.0-megapixel camera to get excellent photography results. Last year Nokia’s earnings dropped almost 66 percent after which the Finnish company has been expanding into the lucrative high-end smartphone market. It also got into a deal with Microsoft to port Office onto its Smartphones. To make things a bit more attractive, Nokia is also planning on launching a financial payment service for mobile phones that lets customers send money to another person. According to Nokia, N900 will hit the market in October for a price of about $710, excluding possible store discounts.
