It is now being heard that Apple and China Unicom are close to announcing a deal to sell a different version of the iPhone without Wi-Fi in China somewhere in September. These two companies are in conformity on major issues including prices and so the announcement can actually come as early as in September. The China based iphone will be be coming without the Wi-fi as there is a government rule which requires this.

Then there is the advantage of an OpenGL for high-quality 3D graphics for faster and improved mobile gaming. It runs on Apple's new iPhone OS 3.0 software which gives the users the ability to cut copy and paste text. Perhaps the thing that mostly attracts users to this set is the new built-in digital compass for instant navigation which shows travelers which way they are headed and rotates as they change direction. The fact that the compass is also integrated within Maps is important too as it automatically orients any map to the direction they are facing. Now according to the deal it is being said that the iphone is going to be priced somewhere near 3,000 yuan ($440 dollars) but it comes with a requirement that wants the customers to also buy 3,000 yuan worth of prepaid calls. China Unicom is China's second-largest carrier and it started negotiations with Apple as soon as the government issued third-generation, or 3G, mobile phone licenses in January. It must be noted here that the handset has still not hit the market in China as yet but there are at least 1.5 million units in use imported to the country by online vendors. It has been estimated that China is the world's largest mobile market with more than 687 million customers which is big when compared with 270 million subscribers in the U.S. It has also been heard that the Taiwanese phone maker HTC announced plans to launch seven third-generation phones, with China Mobile by 2010.
