In a statement released by AT&T today it was announced that the Samsung Solstice, a beautiful touch screen handset will be launched on August 2. The biggest attraction of this phone is its ability to give its users an effortless access to Facebook and MySpace. AT&T, the second-largest U.S. carrier, has announced some specifications of the said handset as well. It is basically a 3.0-inch touch screen with a virtual, landscape QWERTY keyboard which will enable the user to type much more easily. There is a built-in accelerometer in the phone which helps detect motion and direction of the phone automatically. This is why when you tilt the handset a bit you can cause the display to auto rotate and are able to scroll photos. With Samsung Solstice Touch Screen Phone, you can now add “widgets” to access Face book and MySpace as it has Samsung’s Touch Wiz user interface installed in it.

Other things that might attract a user to Samsung Solstice Touch Screen Phone are a 2.0-megapixel camera, MP3 player, video and audio streaming, preloaded games, Bluetooth technology and a microSD memory card slot which has a powerful capacity of up to 16GB storage. It comes with high-speed 3G Internet and users can instantly access AT&T's exclusive services such as Mobile Music and Navigator.

"The sleek, compact Solstice brings a rich web browsing and instant access to your favorite social networking sites through widgets and Samsung's innovative TouchWiz user experience," said Omar Khan, Samsung's vice president.

Samsung Solstice Touch Screen Phone will be available by the beginning of August for an estimated price of $100 with a two-year contract.
